  Dale Clevenger



Biography:

Principal horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since February 1966, Dale Clevenger is a versatile musician in many areas, including chamber music, jazz, commercial recordings, and solos. His mentors were Arnold Jacobs and Adolph Herseth.

Before joining the CSO, Clevenger was a member of Leopold Stokowski’s American Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony of the Air directed by Alfred Wallenstein; he also was principal horn of the Kansas City Philharmonic. He has appeared as soloist with orchestras worldwide, including the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim. He has participated in many music festivals, including the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival; the Florida Music Festival in Sarasota; the Marrowstone Music Festival in Bellingham, Washington; and the Affinis Music Festival in Japan. He also participates in the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival. In addition, he has worked with the European Community Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado, and participated in several International Horn Society workshops.

He has given recitals and master classes throughout the world: Italy, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Japan, China, Australia, Mexico, Canada, and Israel.
Dale Clevenger is the featured soloist on several CSO recordings, including works by Martin, Schumann, Britten, and Mozart. He also played on the Grammy Award–winning recording The Antiphonal Music of Gabrieli with the brass ensembles of the Chicago, Philadelphia, and Cleveland orchestras. He has recorded the horn concertos by Joseph and Michael Haydn with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra of Budapest, as well as all of Mozart’s horn concertos. The Mozart recording was named Record of the Year in Hungary, and both recordings were nominated for Grammy awards. Clevenger also performed with Barenboim and colleagues from the CSO and the Berlin Philharmonic in Chicago and Berlin on the Grammy-winning CD of quintets for piano and winds by Mozart and Beethoven. With Barenboim and Itzhak Perlman, he recorded Brahms’s Horn Trio for HD TV, laser disc, and Sony Classical CD. He performed on the Tribute to Ellington CD with Barenboim and other members of the CSO, and he has recorded Strauss’s First Horn Concerto with Barenboim and the CSO. John Williams wrote a horn concerto for him, which he premiered in 2004.

For seventeen years, Clevenger played almost regularly with the group EARS, Jazz of All Eras. In 1985, he received an honorary doctorate from Elmhurst College. He currently teaches at Roosevelt University, where he is a professor of horn.
Also a conductor, Dale Clevenger served as music director of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra for fourteen years. His conducting career has included guest appearances with numerous other orchestras, including the New Japan Philharmonic, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the Roosevelt University Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Conservatory Orchestra, the Northwestern University Summer Symphony, the Western Australia Symphony Orchestra, the Osaka Philharmonic, the National Philharmonic of Slovakia in Bratislava, the Sinfonia Crakovia and the Opole Philharmonic in Poland, and the Bartlesville (Oklahoma) Symphony Orchestra.

Will Sanders



Biography:

Born in Venlo, the Netherlands. Studied french horn in Maastricht with H.Crüts and E.Penzel and finished his studies with merit. While a student Will Sanders was a member of the European Community Youth Orchester conducted by Claudio Abbado. In 1986 he became co-principal hornplayer in the Mannheim National Opera. Two years later he was principal hornplayer in the Symphony Orchestra Baden/Baden – Freiburg. Changing in 1990 to the same position in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. 1992 – 1997 he was principal hornplayer in the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra were he played the Siegfried Call. Will Sanders has worked with the most famous conductors and soloists of our day, the top orchestras of Germany and several times with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

Apart from playing orchestral music, he appeared internationally as a soloist, has made several CD ´s and radio recordings and played in various chamber music ensembles such as the German Wind Soloists, Linos Ensemble, the Mullova Ensemble and German Brass. Also he founded the German Hornensemble. Since 1995 he is teaching the hornclass at the conservatorium in Maastricht. In 1999 he started giving horn - and chambermusic lessons and became the title professor at the Music Highschool Karlsruhe. Will Sanders is giving masterclasses all over the world like USA, Brasil, Japan, Australia, Korea, Switzerland and Europe. Many of his students are playing in famous orchestras and chambergroups all around the world.

Luca Benucci



Biography:

LUCA BENUCCI studied at the Conservatory "L. Cherubini" of Florence, where he got his Diploma in 1987. in the same year he went to Chicago, where he studied with D. Clevenger and A. Jacob: afterwards, studies with Guelfo Nalli, Roger Bobo, Stefan Dohr, Fergus Mc William, Radovan Vlaktovic, Frank Lloyd, were as important. He has won several auditions for principal solo horn in Italy and abroad, which: Orchestra Regionale Toscana (Florence), Teatro San Carlo (Neaples), Teatro La Fenice (Venice), Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Florence), Festival dei Due Mondi (Spoleto), Eastern Music Festival (North Carolina), Teatro dell’Opera (Rome), and others.

From 1989 to 1992 he was first horn at the Teatro San Carlo; from 1992 to 1995, after invitation, he became pricipal solo horn of the Mittel Deutches Rundfunk Symphonie Orchester (Leipzig); since 1995, following an audition with Zubin Mehta, he was appointed pricipal solo horn of the "Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino."

He has been invited to play in the European tour of the Israel Philarmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta, and in the Italian tour of the Deutsche Oper Berlin conducted by Christian Tielemann. Since the year 2001 he regularly collaborates as first horn with the Berliner Philharmoniker Orchester, Simon Rattle, Bernard Haiting, A. Pappano, A. Borejko conducting, and has partecipated to the recording of a CD with this great orchestra. In 2005 he was inviteed to play at the Lucerna Festival with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Baremboim, and in Japan with the Super World Orchestra conducted by Z. Mehta and E. Kuntzel.

As principal solo horn he has collaborated with the Teatro and the Filarmonica della Scala, the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della R.A.I., the Swiss Radio Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmonica A.Toscanini.

He has been invited as a soloist to several festivals and by several orchestras of international level such as Tateshina Music Festival Japan, Swiss Brass Week, M.D.R. Sommer Festival (Germany), I Solisti Veneti, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra Sinfonica di San Remo, Ravenna Festival, I Solisti del San Carlo, I Solisti del Maggio, I Solisti Fiorentini. He is often and regularly invited to be a board member in national and internationals auditions, and he has collaborated with the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genova, the Teatro San Carlo of Neaples, the Teatro Massimo of Catania "Bellini", the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Orchestra Regionale Toscana, the Arena di Verona, the Leipzig Radio Orchestra.

He is the founder and Artistic Director of the Festival "Santa Fiora in Musica", supervisor of the "Sardigna Festival" and founder of several ensembles, among which the "Nuovo Quintetto Italiano".
Besides the experience of performing all over the world with some of the most renowned conductors – among which R. Muti, L. Maazel, R.Chailly, S. Ozawa, W. Sawallish, C. Abbado, G. Pretre – Luca Benucci has an intense teaching activity. He has taught master classes in Italy, Germany, Japan, Spain and China, in collaboration with important institutions such as Conservatorio L. Cherubini of Florence, Istituto O. Vecchi of Modena, Conservatorio "A. Buzzolla" of Adria, Conservatorio "A. Canepa" of Sassari, Conservatorio "G. B. Pergolesi" of Fermo, Corsi di Formazione MIMESIS Maggio Arte, Corsi di formazione Musica & Muse in Val D'Aosta, Festival degli Ottoni di Quart, Mittel Deutches Rundfunk, T.M.F. Japan, Musashino Academy di Tokio, Benidorm Festival, Nanchino Music Academy, World Youth Orchestra, Santa Fiora in Musica, Progetto Palcoscenico, Sardinia Brass Festival, in collabotation with artists such as Roger Bobo, Jens Lindemann, Steven Mead, Charles Vernon, Vincent Penzarella, Dale Clevenger, Sfefan Dohr, Rex Martin, Andrea Bandini, Andrea Conti, Marco Pierobon, P.Vernikof, D. Strabrawa, contributing to the formation and progress of several young musicians aiming at a performing career.

He gave a series of masterclasses at: Boston University, Roosevelt University (Chicago), Mannes College of Music (NY), Curtis Institute of Fine Arts (Philhadelphia), Portorico Music Conservatory, Ankara University, Barcelona Conservatory (Catalan Horn Day), Ionians University, Tel Aviv University (Israel Horn Day). In march 2009 he played Sigfried by Wagner with the Berliner Philarmonker, in Salzburg. In October 2009 he played with the Israel Philarmonic conducted by Zubin Metha. In January 2010 he played Richard Strauss 1st Concerto with the Orchestra of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino conducted by Zubin Metha.

Francisco Rodríguez



Biography:

Francisco Rodríguez Azorín was born in Yecla (Murcia). He began his musical studies with Miguel Torres at the Conservatorio Superior in Murcia. He was awarded a scholarship by the Spanish Ministry of Culture to continue his studies in France. He studied under Daniel Bourgue (french horn) and J. C. Montac (chamber music) at the Conservatoire National in Versailles. He also had masterclasses with Philip Farkas, Vicente Zarzo, Güelfo Nalli, David W. Johnson, Martin Hackleman and Adam Friedrich.

He was Principal Horn in both the JONDE (National Youth Orchestra of Spain) and the Orquesta de Cámara de la Comunidad de Madrid. He has also worked with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Orquesta Ciudad de Barcelona, Orquesta de Cadaqués and the Hamburg Philharmonisches Statsorchester.

He is a founder member of the Grup “Barcelona Petit Ensemble”, with which he has brought an extensive repertoire for horn and strings into the public domain. As a member of Cornicinum he toured Spain and Europe, as well as recording for RNE (Spanish national radio), Catalunya Radio, TV3, TVE (Spanish national television) and Slovak State Television. He has also recorded for Sachmo Records, Opus and Arte.

He was awarded the Premier Prix at the Conservatorio Superior in Murcia, Premier Prix (unanimously) at the Conservatoire National in Versailles, Honour Prize at the same conservatoire under the presidency of Lucièn Thèvet, and Bronze Medal (unanimously) at the Toulon International Competition (France). He has premiered many works and recordings. In July 2004 he performed the world premier of the Sonata for Horn and Piano by Albert Guinovart, as part of the 36th International Horn Society Congress. The following year he premiered the Horn Concerto by the same composer, and more recently, the trio Mirall Trencat. He has also premiered works such as Pecados Capitales by Raul Pérez, Espumes by X. Boliart and made the first recording of Fantasía for Horn and Strings Orchestra by S. Brotons.

Also gives the Masterclass in some Youth Orchestras, like guest teacher, and lessons in so many horn congres, in Europe and America.
He has performed as soloist with the Orquesta de Cámara de Madrid, Orquesta de Cámara del Gran Teatre del Liceu, Orquesta Camera Musicae and the Orquesta de la Academia del Liceu, Orquesta Juvenil del Yucatán(México).

Recently, he has performed the First Concert of R. Strauss, in a mexican tour with the Sistema de Orquestas Juveniles de México.
He is currently a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica del Liceu and teaches horn at the Conservatorio Profesional in Terrassa and the Conservatori Superior del Liceu in Barcelona. He is also president of the Catalonian Horn Society.

Biography:

Allen Vizzutti has visited 40 countries and every state in the union to perform with a rainbow of artists and ensembles including Chick Corea, 'Doc' Severinsen, the NBC Tonight Show Band, the Airmen Of Note, the Army Blues and Army Symphony Orchestra, Chuck Mangione, Woody Herman, Japan’s NHK Orchestra and the New Tokyo Philharmonic, the Budapest Radio Orchestra, , the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Leipzig Wind Symphony and the Kosie Wind Orchestra. Performing as a classical and a jazz artist, often in the same evening, he has appeared as guest soloist with symphony orchestras in Tokyo, Germany, St. Louis, Seattle, Rochester N.Y., Syracuse, Milwaukee, Buffalo, Phoenix, Edmonton, Vancouver and Winnipeg to name a few. Music lovers in Germany, Poland, England, Sweden, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Australia and the United States have heard his brilliant sound over the airwaves of national television. Yigal Meltzer



Biography:

Yigal Meltzer, principal trumpet of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra since 2001. He Joined the orchestra in 1991. Studied in New York with leading trumpet players Philip Smith, principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic and James Pandolfi, 3rd trumpet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

Has appeared as soloist many times with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Israel and on concert tours over seas under the baton of conductors including Zubin Mehta, George Pehlivanian, Kazushi Ono and Mendy Rodan.

Appeared as soloist with leading orchestras in Israel including The Israel Chamber Orchestra, The Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem, The Tel Aviv Soloists, The Be'er Sheva Chamber Orchestra and the Modern music ensemble Musica Nova. He Recorded several solo recitals for the Israel Radio.
Yigal Is a member of the Israel Philharmonic Brass Octet and the Israel Philharmonic Brass Quintet. He Gives regular master classes in Israel, Europe, USA, South America and Australia.

Yigal Holds the position of trumpet teacher and faculty member in the Tel Aviv University.

Giancarlo Parodi



Biography:

Giancarlo Parodi completed his musical studies at the Conservatorio di Alessandria under the tuition of Prof. Renato Cadoppi (former first trumpet with the Orchestra RAI di Torino). Later, he studied with various teachers, including Luciano Cadoppi (first trumpet at La Scala) ang obtained his diploma in trumpet in 1981. In the academic year 1984-84, he studied at the Northwestern University of Chicago, training under Vincent Cichowicz (former trumpet with the Chicago Symphony. Orchestra), Arnold Jacobs (former tuba with the CSO) and he attended the lessons of Bud Herset (first trumpet with the CSO) and Dale Clevenger (first horn with the CSO). During his stay in the USA, he played in various chamber ensembles within the university and elsewhere. He has played with leading Italian orchestras and since 1985 has also enjoyed a successful career in teaching. Many of his pupils are members of the most famous Italian orchestras: Marco Pierobon, first trumpet with the Orchestra di S. Cecilia and winner (September 2003) of the auditions for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; Roberto Rossi, first trumpet with the Orch. Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI di Torino; Davide Simoncini, first trumpet with the Orchestra di Trieste; Massimo Longhi, first trumpet with the Arena di Verona; Alberto Brini, first trumpet with the Orchestra Haydn; Fabiano Maniero, first trumpet with the Orchestra Fenice di Venezia; Gianluigi Petrarulo, first trumpet with the Orchestra Verdi di Milano; Mirko Bellucco, Orchestra Fenice di Venezia, etc. Others are successful conservatoire teachers in their own right. He regularly holds courses in various Italian conservatoires, at the Scuola di Musica di Fossano, at the Scuola Civica di Gorla Maggiore (VA) and also holds masterclasses with teachers of the calibre of Roger Bobo, Dale Clevenger, Andrea Conti, Andrea Dell’Ira, Luca Benucci and so on. From 2002 to 2005, he was teacher of the trumpet and trombone at the Conservatorio di Adria, and currently teaches a two-year specialisation course at the same institute.

Biography:

He graduates at the Bologna Conservatory, then he improves himself in Germany at the Hochschule in Detmold studying with M° Max Sommerhalder. He started a carrier as 1° trumpet first in the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, then with the San Carlo di Napoli, going on with the most important orchestras in Italy and in the world, among with: Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Roma, Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale RAI, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Orchestra della Fenice di Venezia, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, M.D.R. Simphonie Orchestre Leipzig. Winner of many international prizes and competitions for 1° trumpet, he joined the professional experience with the didattica, teaching at the Conservatory "A. Buzzolla" in Adria. He's a teache at the Santa Fiora in Musica in the High Formation Courses and in the special brasses Master. He's soloist in a large number of concerts with important associations and orchestras in Italy and abroad, mostly in the trombino repertory. He's coordinator for Brasses Masters at the Adria Conservatory.

Biography:

Born in Cesena the 30th of May 1959, he got his diploma in Trumpet in 1979 at the Conservatory "Martini" of Bologna and he made his appearance in the jazz world in the first years of '80.

During his career, he shared the scene with some of the most famed italain jazzmen, as Gianni Basso, Franco Ambrosetti, Pietro Tonolo, Giovanni Tommaso, Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava, Gianluigi Trovesi, Dado Moroni, Giorgio Gaslini, Danilo Rea e Stefano Bollani.

He also collaborated serious times, in live and studio recordings, with famous musicians as Eddie Henderson, Sal Nistico, Steve Coleman, Ray Mantilla, Joe Lovano, Steve Lacy, Louis Heyes, Ben Sidran, Curtis Fuller, Slide Hampton, Paul Jeffrey, Gary Bartz, George Cables, Ray Drummond, Billy Hart,Cameron Brown e Jimmy Cobb. From a few years he also collaborate with the French guitarist Christian Escoudé.

He participated, as leader of his groups or as sideman, to all the most renowned international jazz festivals, including Umbria Jazz, Siena Jazz, Roma Jazz Festival, Eurofestival of Ivrea, Dubai Jazz Festival, Jazz Wochen of Basilea, North Carolina International Jazz Festival e Wiesen Jazz Festival.

He played around all Italy and the World in prestigious theatres and clubs, al the Blue Note of Milano, the Birdland of New York, the Sunset Club of Paris and the Teatro Megaro of Athens.

Contemporarly to this intense activity as jazzman, he also worked as sideman for a lot of pop singers, including Raf, Vinicio Capossela and Jovanotti. With his wind section he accompanied George Michael and Grace Jones in 2000 and 2004 editions of Pavarotti international.

Biografia:

Born in Florence in 1960.
Florence graduated in '78 with Maestro Angelo Massini, in '76 he studied trumpet and baroque performance practice with the Mo. Giorgio Pacchioni.
Since '75 occasionally collaborated with the Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under the direction of Richard Mo Muti.Dal '78 all''80 Trumpet is the first Italian Youth Orchestra directed by Mo Massimo De Bernard. Since 1980 all''86 is part of the Orchestra Regionale Toscana, doing business is very intense solo and chamber under the guidance of Luciano Berio Mo. From 1986 to 2000 is part of the orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. Since 1985 Professor of Trumpet and Trombone at the Musical Institute "Mascagni" in Livorno. From 2000 he directed a research laboratory technology for brass in Florence.

  Joseph Alessi



Biography:

Joseph Alessi was appointed Principal Trombone of the New York Philharmonic in the spring of 1985. He began musical studies in his native California with his father, Joseph Alessi, Sr. As a high school student in San Rafael, California, and was a soloist with the San Francisco Symphony before continuing his musical training at Philadelphiaís Curtis Institute of Music. Prior to joining the Philharmonic, Mr. Alessi was second trombone of The Philadelphia Orchestra for four seasons, and principal trombone of LíOrchestre symphonique de Montreal for one season. In addition, he has performed as guest principal trombonist with the London Symphony Orchestra in Carnegie Hall led by Pierre Boulez.

Mr. Alessi is an active soloist, recitalist, and chamber music performer. In April 1990 he made his solo debut with the New York Philharmonic, performing Crestonís Fantasy for Trombone, and in 1992 premiered Christopher Rouseís Pulitzer Prize-winning Trombone Concerto with the Philharmonic, which commissioned the work for its 150th anniversary celebration. His most recent appearance with the Philharmonic as soloist was in world premiere performances of Melinda Wagner's Trombone Concerto in February of 2007.

Mr. Alessi has been a guest soloist with the Lincoln Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Symphony, Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Santa Barbara Symphony, South Dakota Symphony, New Japan Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic, Orchestra of Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, Sicily, Mannheim National Theater Orchestra, National Symphony of Taiwan, Puerto Rico Symphony, Hague Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic, and the Hartford Symphony. Mr. Alessi has also participated in numerous festivals, including the Festivale Musica di Camera in Protogruaro, Italy; Cabrillo Music Festival; Swiss Brass Week; and Lieksa Brass Week in Finland. He was featured in the 1997 International Trombone Festival in Feldkirch, Austria, and the International Meeting of Brass Instruments in Lille, France. He is a founding member of the Summit Brass ensemble at the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute in Tempe, Arizona. In 2002 Mr. Alessi was awarded an International Trombone Association Award for his contributions to the world of trombone music and trombone playing.

Mr. Alessi is currently on the faculty of The Juilliard School; his students now occupy posts with many major symphony orchestras in the U.S. and internationally. As a clinician for the Edwards Instrument Co., he has also given master classes throughout the world and has toured Europe extensively as a master teacher and recitalist. He has performed as soloist with several leading concert bands, including the U.S. Military Academy Band at West Point, U.S. Army Band (Pershing's Own), and the U.S. Marine Band (President's Own).

Mr. Alessiís discography includes many releases on the Summit record label, including the recent Trombonastics, and a disc with New York Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Philip Smith entitled Fandango; he also recorded New York Legends on the Cala label. His live recording of the Rouse Concerto with the New York Philharmonic can be heard on Volume II of the recent release, An American Celebration, on New York Philharmonic Special Editions, the Orchestraís own recording label. Three new recordings are scheduled for release in 2007: Return to Sorrento, on the Naxos record label, and two recordings on the Summit record label that feature Mr. Alessi with Columbus State University Wind Ensemble and the Imperial Brass Band. In addition, conductor/composer Bramwell Tovey recently recorded a piece written especially for Mr. Alessi, entitled Urban Cabaret with Mr. Alessi as soloist.

Mr. Alessi was invited by the International Trombone Association to record a solo disc of newly composed works, which was distributed to the Associationís membership of 5,000 trombonists in early 1999 and is now available as Beyond the End of the Century through Summit Records. Recently, his recording of George Crumbís Starchild on the Bridge record label, featuring Mr. Alessi as soloist, won a Grammy Award for 1999ñ2000. Other recordings featuring Mr. Alessi are with the Canadian Brass (Sony Classical and Philips Records).

Andrea Conti



Biography:

Andrea Conti studied at the Music School "G. Verdi" in Prato with Giulio Gabbiani and Giuseppe Mangione. He graduates as a privatist in 1985, when he was 18 years old, at the Musical Institute "P. Mascagni" in Livorno. Then he studied at the Music School of Fiesole with Vinko Globokar and William Cramer, teacher at the Florida State University. He continued this kind of experience with americans teachers studying in Chicago and through Masterclasses in Italy, Suisse and Germany, attending, among others, Arnold Jacobs, E. Kleinhammer, C. Vernon, F. Crisafulli, R. Martin and Joseph Alessi. He's the winner of auditions with the Orchestra Sinfonica dell'Emilia Romagna "A. Toscanini", the Orchestra dell'Accademia di Santa Cecilia, the Orchestra Giovanile della Comunità Europea "E.C.Y.O.", as well as competition at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli (1° Trombone from February 1987 to April 1988), at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, at the Teatro alla Scala di Milano, the Teatro Comunale di Firenze "Maggio Musicale Fiorentino" (1° Trombone from 1988 to 1997), the Teatro dell'Opera di Monaco di Baviera "Bayerische Staatsoper" (1. Solo Posaunist from 1997 to 2003). In October 2002 he was the winner of the selection (Competition under invitation) for the 1° Trombone at the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, position that he still holds. He cooperated, as 1° Trombone, with some institutions, like the RAI Orchestres of Napoli and Roma, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the Teatro alla Scala, the Orchestra della Radiotelevisione di Lipsia (Mittel Deutscher Rundfunk Sinfonie-Orchester), the "Solisti Veneti", the "Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester", the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (where he was invited as 1º Trombone in the European Tournee in 2001), working with conductors like C. Daniele Morandini



Biography:

Born in Siena in 1983, started studying trombone at the age of 11 in with Mr. Marco Piattelli and then with Mr. Walter Carpano. In the A.Y. 1998/99 joined Mr. Mauro Bianchi’s class at the Istituto Musicale Parificato “Rinalo Franci” (Siena, Italy) where he got graduated in A.Y. 1999/2000 with “10/10 e lode” (summa cum laude). Studied at the Accademia di Perfezionamento “Santa Fiora in Musica 2002” with Steven Mead and Andrea Conti and chamber music with Luca Benucci and Dale Clevenger. Got the “Orchestral Diploma” Bachelor Degree in June 2005 at the “Conservatoire Superieur de Musique de Genève” with Mr. Andrea Bandini, recieving the mention “tres bien”. In the A.Y. 2007/08 Daniele got his Master Degree on Musical Disciplines at the “Istituto Musicale della Valle D’Aosta”, recieving “110/110 e lode” (summa cum laude). Masterclasses with Jacques Mauger, Fabiano Fiorenzani, Cristophe Sanchez, Andrea Conti, Jay Friedman, Charles G. Vernon and Eitan Bezalel. Winner of an european brass scolarship award given by Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe in 2000. Many partnerships as freelance player with Professional Symphony Orchestras, such as Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Italian Chamber Orchestra, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova and La Scala di Milano. Being a brass soloist of the IPO, Daniele is a member of The Israel Philharmonic Brass Quintet. Daniele has appeared in many committees of prominent brass instruments competitions. Daniele is the trombone Professor at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and at the The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in the Tel-Aviv University, and besides his regular teaching he has been giving many masterclasses around Europe, Chile, Brasil, Israel and Australia. He has been elected to the Board of Advisers of the International Trombone Association for the period 2008 – 2011.

Gabriele Malloggi



Biography:

He studied at the Conservatory of Florence in the trombone class of W. Carpano, and got his Diploma in 1994. He then attended the orchestra courses of the Accademia "A. Toscanini" with G. Corti. Subsequently, he studied basso trombone under the guidance of Rex Martin (teacher at the North-western University di Chicago) and Micha Davis (basso trombone of the Israel Philharmonic), and attended master classes given by Edward Kleinhammer (former basso trombone of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra), Jay Friedmann (1st trombone of the Chicago Symphony Orch.), Michael Mulcahy (2nd trombone of the Chicago Symphony Orch.), Charles G. Vernon (basso trombone of the Chicago Symphony Orch.) and Joseph Alessi (1st trombone of the New York Philharmonic). As basso trombonist he ha performed with the some of the best orchestras under conductors such as C. Abbado, M. W. Chung, V. Giergiev, L. Maazel, M. Mehta, R Muti, S. Ozawa, G. Pretre, W. Sawallish, etc. In 1999, after an audition, he was chosen by Zubin Mehta as basso trombonist of the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, and he still occupies that post.

  Øystein Baadsvik



Biography:

Øystein Baadsvik is the only tuba virtuoso to have carved out a career exclusively as a soloist, rather than becoming a member of an orchestra or accepting a teaching post. His multi-faceted musical career as a soloist, chamber musician, lecturer and recording artist has taken him all over the world. The unique virtuosity and musicality Mr. Baadsvik’s brings to the tuba has established him as the exemplar of the instrument.

He studied under the celebrated tuba player Harvey Phillips, Distinguished Professor meritus, Department of Music, Indiana University and with the legendary Arnold Jacobs, who had a forty-year career and position of Principal Tuba with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Øystein Baadsvik’s international career began in 1991 when he was awarded two prizes at the prestigious Concours International d’Exécution Musicale in Geneva.

His international engagements include performances with orchestras such as the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Taipei National Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Philharmonic, and the Orchestra Victoria of Melbourne. Baadsvik has performed in some of the most famous venues in the world and 2006 made his New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall.

He works constantly to expand the musical aspects of the tuba and has premiered some forty solo works by composers from the USA, Russia, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland. In this ongoing process he has developed new tuba-playing techniques that have been used in a number of more recent works for the instrument.

Baadsvik is an active recording artist whose CDs receive unstinting praise.During the last two years he reached a major breakthrough in Japan, where his CDs ranked second in sales recordings for all wind instruments. In their review of “Tuba Works”, American Record Guide said, “This spectacular recording establishes Baadsvik as one of the best solo tubists in the world.” In praise of “Tuba Carnival”, The Daily Telegraph, U.K said, “...his capacity for lyricism in a recording that emancipates the tuba from its Cinderella role with ear-catching panache. Baadsvik shows that anything a violin can do, a tuba can do too.”

Jens Bjørn-Larsen



Biography:

Jens Bjørn-Larsen (tuba) born in 1965, is one of the most sought-after tuba soloists in the world, and a highly appreciated and successful teacher of brass instruments. He has been tuba soloist in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra / DR since he was 20 and has also been a very busy chamber and ensemble musician in both Royal Danish Brass and Stockholm Chamber Brass. He has won many prizes including First Prize in the 1985 Nordic Soloist Competition, the Victor Borge Grant and First Prize at the Concours d’Exécution Musicale in Geneva in 1991. Jens Bjørn-Larsen is a professor at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover and teaches at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and Musikhögskolan in Malmö.

Eros Sabbatani



Biography:

Born in Ravenna in 1971, Eros Sabbatani began his bass-tuba studies at the age of 14. At the age of 18 he made his debut at the "Sala Verdi" of Milan, performing Ralph Vaughan Williams' Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra, accompanied by the orchestra "I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano".

In 1991 Eros graduated with honours at the Conservatorio "G. Verdi" in Milan, and in 1996 he was awarded the Advanced Diploma of Specialisation in Bass-Tuba from the Musichoshule in Freiburg, Germany.
Besides winnin several national and international music competitions, such as the prestigious Yamaha. he has distinguished himself by classifying first at the auditions of the Teatro alla Scala, Arena di Verona Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, the Teatro Palestrina di Cagliari, and the Teatro Bellini di Catania, amongst others.

Eros is currently Professor of Tuba at the Conservatorio di musica Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. His soloist as well as his orchestral activity, which has allowed him to work with worldwide famous conductors such as Muti, Metha, Pretre and Renzetti, complements his didactic activity
